The Atlantic Flyway. It’s a super highway in the sky! From South America to Canada, it handles hundreds of species of birds and millions of individuals during any single migration season. The heaviest traffic is at night, and rush hour can last for weeks.

Audubon  has a long relationship with the Great Lakes and efforts to improve bird and wildlife habitat.

When Adrian Block first entered the Long Island Sound estuary in the early 1600s, he discovered an unbelievably rich ecosystem teeming with birds, fish and wildlife.

Nearly half of North America’s bird species, and about 40 percent of its waterfowl, spend at least part of their lives in the Mississippi Flyway. Audubon is making a difference for the birds, habitats, and communities of this great flyway.

The sagebrush landscape has long epitomized the American West. But this unique habitat, home to scores of plants and animals, including the Greater Sage-Grouse, is rapidly disappearing. Already heavily impacted by oil and gas development, its high plains and sweeping vistas are also an important potential source of wind energy.
